Prospects of Israel's northern Front plunging into War

Israel At War. For the last three months Hezbollah and the Israel Defense Forces have been exchanging fire across Lebanon’s southern border and the Galillee’s northern frontier.

Rockets and missiles, bombs and shells flew back and forth, as the Shiite proxy of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Quds Force tried to balance its support of the Gaza-based Hamas war effort with its own reluctance to fall prey to an Israeli determination to pre-empt a Lebanon version of the October 7 massacre in the Negev. But the first days of this year brought about an alarming escalation, with Israel assassinating both a senior Hamas official in Beirut and a key Hezbollah operative near the border and Hezbollah hitting an Israel Air Force Radar station atop a mountain inland. Are the parties going through the motions, showing they will not be deterred by each other but actually being restrained, or is there a real danger of moving from limited stand-off actions into a full-scale war, including ground raids and even invasions?
