Arab-speaking Christians and Army Service

Israeli Arab-speaking Christians have started gaining interest in the army service. This has caused resistence in not only the Muslim population but also amongst the Arab-speaking Christians.

Many Arab Christians have begun encouraging their youth to apply for the army, because it would give the youth a better opportunity to integrate into the Israeli community. Maronite Christian Shadi and a few other
officers have started a forum that aims at helping Israeli Christians who are interested in going to serve in the army. We will visit Shadi in his home village, Jish. We will also meet a young lady and her father living amid the
beautiful surroundings of Northern Israel, in the village of Mi'ilya.
