US-Israel VS Iran-Russia-China in the Mideast

While the enemy of my enemy may indeed almost always be my friend, it does not necessarily follow that the friend of my enemy is automatically my enemy. International relations are of course more complicated than any simplistic headline.

Nevertheless, not since the end of the Cold War has there emerged such a stark alignment of competing alliances. Israel has sided with and is supported by the US-led coalition of Western nations and some moderate Arab regimes, while Russia has allied itself with China, North Korea and Iran, and though President Putin’s motive is his military need in the Ukraine war, there are grave repercussions in the Middle East.
