Even before this week’s announcement by the International Criminal Court prosecutor regarding charges against certain Israeli officials, there were already differences in opinion and policy between the Biden administration and European governments and institutions.
Despite the occasional tension between Washington and Jerusalem, the American support for Israel has been far more solid than that shown by both the EU and individual capitals.
