Turkey’s global standing, interests and challenges

Under President Recep Tayep Erdogan, Turkey has changed its global positioning system in two important and to some extent overlapping ways. A long-time member of NATO, an alliance created to contain Soviet ambitions, Ankara has recently moved away from Washington and Brussels and towards Moscow; and as a regional power, Turkey has assumed a pro-active policy in the Levant, the Mediterranean, the Caucasus and the Balkans. Are these ventures or adventures? Is Turkey better off with this break with traditional policies?

Guests Mr. Yusuf Erim, TRT World Editor at large, and Dr. Hay Eytan Cohen Yanarocak: research fellow at the Moshe Dayan Center and JISS. Analyst Amir Oren. Host Jonathan Hessen.
