Tensions between Russia and Western countries and international organizations such as the European Union over the war in Ukraine will certainly affect other issues, on which there was up-to-now common ground between the parties. A case in point is the Nuclear deal being essentially renegotiated in Vienna between Iran and the parties to the 2015 agreement. If Russia is now in a hostile stance towards the United States and its allies, it may tilt towards Iran regardless of the Islamic Republic’s steady accumulation of enriched fissile material and ballistic missile arsenal.
