East Mediterranean tensions, prospects of de-escalation

The Eastern half of the Mediterranean has of course been known as one of the cradles of civilization, endowing mankind with Hellenic, Roman, Egyptian and Judeo-Christian legacies, among others. Yet with culture there also comes conflict, with ancient hostilities dormant only until they rise again, due to competition or ideology. This seems to be the situation in the Eastern Med today, with Erdogan’s Turkey determined to upset an arrangement reached by Greece, Israel, Cyprus, Egypt and France, with a possible future addition of Lebanon. Are we headed towards further escalation, or conversely towards de-escalation?

Guests prof Dr. Loannis Nomikos - Director at Research Institute for European and American Studies & Founding Editor at Journal of Mediterranean and Balkan Intelligence, and Mr. Yusuf Erim, TRT World Editor at large. Analyst Amir Oren. Host Jonathan Hessen.
