A three-day klezmer music festival is held annually in the city of Safed in Galilee. For 25 years the festival has been a get-together for top klezmer artists.
People of Israel returned to their homeland after 2000 years of dispersion. It is therefore only natural that Jewish music has been affected by many cultures and many styles of music. Klezmer music was brought to Israel by Jews from Eastern Europe.
We visit the klezmer festival and hear top violin player Eyal Shiloah and a glorious veteran clarinet player Musa Berlin playing klezmer among others.
