Tank Officer and head of International Co-operation Division in the IDF, an Armor officer by training and combat experience, heads the International Co-operation Division in the Israel Defense Forces General Staff.
He is in charge of liaison with foreign Defense Attaches based in Tel Aviv, with Israeli attaches abroad, with various UN Observer Forces and military commands in the arned forces of friendly countries. In 2006, BG Deffrin led his Tank Battalion in a fierce battle in Lebanon, where he was badly wounded. When he recuperated he returned to his unit, moved on to command a Brigade and learned the art of military diplomacy first hand, as Israel’s Defense Attache in India.
