Last week, during the early hours of Friday morning, Israel landed a stunning blow on its mortal enemy, the Islamic Republic of Iran. Two of Israel’s most professional and innovative organisations, the Israel Air Force and Mossad, surprised their complacent targets, hitting both key nuclear and military assets as well as personnel. Iran has retaliated, killing Israeli civilians, destroying urban neighbourhoods and slightly damaging high-value targets, but the balance is clearly in Israel’s favor as the war has entered its fifth day. Global and regional actors have called for ceasefire and a return to the American-Iranian negotiations broken by the Israeli offensive.
