Turkey’s Security Sphere

Turkey, now calling itself Turkiye, has common borders with eight different countries, but its main security interests are concerned mainly with two other countries in its strategic sphere and one other. The two mentioned are Russia and Greece - with a divided Cyprus as an extension, and the third being the United States, which is the leader of NATO where Turkey claims an independent position. Under Recep Tayep Erdogan, in power now for almost a quarter century, Turkey has had an ambitious, pro-active Mediterranean and Middle Eastern outlook.

Its outreach encompasses Syria, Gaza, Libya, the Persian Gulf and wherever it believes the Kurdish minority threatens it. So how is the Erdogan project faring, and will it outlast his personal oversight and role?
