With the war in Ukraine only several weeks away from its first anniversary, it has obviously become the most important issue for Russian President Vladimir Putin. He is going out of his way to salvage some part of his failed gamble on a clear victory. Putin is therefore now courting Iran, despite a lot of negative history between Moscow and Tehran, and the Russian military has become dependent on various kinds of Iranian weapons, most prominently drones. How deep are these relations, can they outlast the war and what impact are they having on the Russian policy vis-a-vis Iran’s Nuclear project?
