The Damascus Regime’s Onslaught to Consolidate Power over Syria
The US Administration, headed by POTUS and represented by the Ambassador to Ankara Tom Barrack, is evidently implementing a policy to coordinate a new deal for a post-Assad Syria with the Turkish government. Having helped Turkish protege Ahmad a-Shara take over in Damascus and allying him with both Washington and Ankara, the Turks have now backed him up in his campaign to subdue the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces in the North-Eastern third of the country. The upshot being that now, with American acquiescence, a-Shara will dominate Syria and threaten its minorities, while President Erdogan will dominate a-Shara and threaten Israel.
