The F-35 is the world’s best fighter plane, a flying system of systems. And the Israeli Air Force is the world’s best wartime operator of the Stealthy “Adir”, being the Hebrew word for awesome. But earlier this week President Trump confirmed reports that the United States is willing to sell F-35 squadrons to Saudi Arabia, thereby giving its air force an unprecedented edge in the Gulf and beyond. Other nations in the region are likely to follow, and there is also a nuclear dimension to be considered What could this do to the American commitment to maintain Israel’s Qualitative Edge? Is it possible that the Saudi F-35 be degraded, or, conversely, could there be something that could compensate Israel in order to balance the equation?
