Talks between delegations from several parties to the 2015 nuclear deal got rolling in Vienna, with the United States participating indirectly and making sure its conciliatory messages to Iran reach their audiences both in Tehran and around the world. One intriguing question is, how will Iran behave in the next two months, while these talks are ongoing and the election campaign to succeed President Rouhani reaches its climax. Will the regime or its more militant elements escalate their activities in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and other fronts, or will they prefer a tactical pause.
