Can the Ayatollah Regime Survive?

Iran's first aspirations towards nuclear weapons was when the Shah was in power and wanted a deterrent against a possible Soviet invasion or Iraqi onslaught. The Ayatollahs who succeeded him have expanded on this ambition and focused on Israel as their nuclear project’s target. Supreme Leader Khamenei, in power for almost 40 years now, has used his nuclear card as a regime insurance policy, however, with his apparent military defeat by Israel looming in the current war, he may have to sacrifice his weapon in order to save its owner.
