Can Israel Overcome Iran’s Regional Proxies

The American-Iranian War, in which Israel was originally a major combatant, is not over yet, but neither is the fighting continuing. Its current stage is reminiscent of the Phony War in Western Europe during early 1940, before the German offensive against France.

What has already emerged is a shift in President Trump’s priorities. First and foremost, the securing of a fully re-opened Strait of Hormuz, so that fuel prices for the American consumer can be brought down. Second of all, the containment and hopefully the complete diminishing of Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Now, nowhere to be seen or heard are the agenda items of regime change, getting rid of ballistic missiles and the cutting off of the proxy network helping Tehran to challenge Israel. Thus, Israel is left alone to contend with Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis and various Iranian-backed militias out of Iraq and Syria.
