When Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi planned his visit to Beirut last month, his focus was to have been on the continued Iranian support for Hezbollah during a time when the Shiite organization is under pressure by Israel, the US, and to some extent by the local government headed by a Maronite President and a Sunni Prime Minister.

However, by the time Araghchi managed to set foot in Lebanon, the tables had already turned. Now it is the Khamenei regime which is in need of help from whatever quarter it can beg from, and Hezbollah is certainly indebted to Tehran for four decades of military and financial buildup. So how will the Iranian-Lebanese relationship play out?
