We intended this conversation to be a post-election discussion, and it will indeed have this function, but it turned out that this will also have a pre-election dimension, as the two leading candidates will face each other in a run-off on the 28th of this month. Therefore, all lessons learned from President Erdogan’s performance, his failure to clear the 50 percent bar but may yet emerge victorious, must be seen as interim. Final judgment on Turkey’s domestic and foreign courses for the next term will have to wait for another chat, probably next month.
