Islam and the rising threat of extremist groups

As radical teachings of extremist Muslims grow stronger around the world, Islamist groups fighting a so called Jihad - the Arabic word for a holy war - garner support in their efforts to yield world dominance. Guests Dr. Jonathan Fine – Senior Researcher at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism and lecturer at the IDC Herzliya; and Qadi Iyad Zahalka, Judge at the Sharia court of Jerusalem and lecturer at the Hebrew and Tel Aviv Universities.

The atrocities committed by some of these groups, including the al-Qaeda linked Islamic State of Iraq and Levant, ISIL, raises alarm among the International community, which has raised a coalition, from both the West and East, to battle the extreme Islamist organizations in a bid to thwart their advances in the ongoing war in Iraq and Syria. In this program we will focus on the complicated Muslim religion and the overview of the current reality.
