Middle East Arms-race among regional rivals

Guests Ely Karmon, Senior researcher of the Institute for Counter Terrorism, Mr. Meir Javedanfar, Middle East Commentator and analyst Mr. Amir Oren.

Since July of last year, when world powers reached a nuclear agreement with Iran, the United States granted some of its regional allies, including Saudi Arabia and Israel, a so-called compensation packages which includes substantive military equipment. Another consequence of the nuclear agreement which resulted in the lifting of economic sanctions on the Islamic Republic, Tehran announced it would invest some 21 billion US-dollars into upgrading its military. The battle among regional powers to achieve a military qualitative superiority is not a new phenomenon, but recent developments have brought about a regional arms race.
