Jewish Matchmakers

In European Jewish communities, matchmakers used to have an important role. In modern Israel, religious Jews have preserved the tradition of matchmaking.

Efrat is a religious Jew and a mother of six children. Her mother’s friend Rochi arranged Efrat’s marriage. We asked Efrat as to how the process toward marriage progressed with the help of a matchmaker. After getting married, Efrat herself has got into matchmaking. We also meet Aharon, a professional matchmaker, who runs matchmaking business in Israel and Paris.
