New Natural Gas Resources

In 2009 two large natural gas fields were found in Israel's territorial waters in the Mediterranean. After a few years the gas line was finally opened for the first time in the end of March 2013.

The gas finds are expected to guarantee Israel comprehensive self-sufficiency in the area of energy production. Introduction of natural gas production in Israel will save the state billions of dollars which have so far been used for importing gas and oil from abroad. There's a hope in Israel that these natural resources will improve the livelihood of the whole nation.
